Bosch closes acquisition of voltwerk electronics GmbH Expansion of inverter business
- Integration into Bosch Powertec subsidiary planned
- Acquisition complements product strategy and existing development capacities in an ideal manner
(Böblingen) Following the approval of the antitrust authorities, the Bosch Group has closed the acquisition of voltwerk electronics GmbH, a supplier of electronic components and software solutions for photovoltaic arrays. The agreement to purchase was signed in December 2011. It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed. voltwerk electronics GmbH will become part of Bosch Power Tec GmbH by the end of 2012. The Bosch subsidiary, which is based in Böblingen, was founded at the start of 2011 and is pushing the Bosch Group's inverter business forward. As a result of the acquisition, Bosch Power Tec now employs some 130 associates at locations in Bad Vilbel, Hamburg, and Böblingen.

Voltwerk inverters meet requirements of low voltage directive
Voltwerk VS range supports improved national grid integration
(Hamburg) Since January 2012, all Voltwerk VS range inverters have fulfilled the requirements of the VDE-AR-N-4105 code of practice. This includes a specification that systems with an output of 3.68 kVA or more must provide reactive power. Voltwerk VS range inverters facilitate in systems with an output of 3.68 to 13.8 kVA the specified cos (φ) of 0.95 and in larger systems the specified cos (φ) of 0.9. The reactive power gets regulated based on a characteristic curve. This thus alleviates what is perhaps the greatest problem of decentralised current feed-in, i.e. increased voltage. Fed-in reactive power enables a lowering of the voltage, meaning that a larger number of solar panel systems can be installed.

Voltwerk at the International Energy Storage Conference in Berlin
Dr. Armin Schmiegel, Program Manager for Smart Grid and Hybrid Systems at Voltwerk, gave a much applauded speech at the International Renewable Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition (IRES) in Berlin. Schmiegel talked about the first results of the extensive field test of the Sol-ion project in private households. He emphasized the first quantitative statements about the increase of own-consumption of power generated by private photovoltaic systems. The expert for hybrid systems’ analyses convinced the peers in the audience: “the first results demonstrate that the Sol-ion system makes it possible to achieve an increase in own-consumption from 55% to up 92%”, Schmiegel explains.

Voltwerk central inverters - 100 percent directive conformity
(Hamburg) Voltwerk electronics GmbH continues to offer its customers one hundred percent security in the planning process for solar parks. Voltwerk inverters from the performance classes 200, 300 and 350 kW achieved unit certification (EZE – production unit) on 30.09.2011, which under the terms of the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Management industry (BDEW) can be used as plant certification by plant operators. The requirement for production plant certification (EZA – production plant) applies to installations from 1 MW and those at a distance of 2 km or more from the grid connection point.
