Voltwerk central inverters - 100 percent directive conformity
VC series meets all conditions of the German Medium Voltage Directive
(Hamburg) Voltwerk electronics GmbH continues to offer its customers one hundred percent security in the planning process for solar parks. Voltwerk inverters from the performance classes 200, 300 and 350 kW achieved unit certification (EZE – production unit) on 30.09.2011, which under the terms of the Federal Association of the Energy and Water Management industry (BDEW) can be used as plant certification by plant operators. The requirement for production plant certification (EZA – production plant) applies to installations from 1 MW and those at a distance of 2 km or more from the grid connection point.
The requirement for production unit certification under the terms of the BDEW directive “Production Plants Connecting to the Medium Voltage Network” (directive for connection to and the parallel operation of production plants to the medium voltage network, 2008 with amendments 1/2009, 7/2010 and 2/2011) for the operation of an inverter connecting to the medium voltage network has been in place since 1st October 2011. Since that date, if there is no certification for the production unit(s) or production plant or if the plant or unit(s) do not meet the directive requirements, network operators have been entitled to demand disconnection from the network of a production plant or to undertake disconnection themselves.
The unit certificate (FGW TR 8) includes test certification and evaluation of the requirements of Medium Voltage Network for the equipment (FGW TR 3) and compliance with the criteria of the technical guidelines “Modelling, Validation and Simulation” (FGW TR4). Thus plant operators are in position to claim plant certification (EZA) right away.
Voltwerk customers circumvent lengthy queues
“The photovoltaic percentage is growing continually year by year. Early on in development, we took into account the fact that inverters will eventually take on other functions in stabilising the public network”, declared Stephan Reder, Product Manager Power Plants for Voltwerk. “Certification is enormously beneficial for our customers given that there is currently a long queue for the obligatory plant certification”, continued Reder.
Certification centres are overburdened and presently are applying an intermediate solution, which stipulates that, if necessary, submission of application for certification is a sufficient safeguard against the eventuality of being closed down. Legal discussion concerning the consequences of such measures continues. Operators of solar parks with voltwerk central inverters from the VC series have no cause for alarm regarding the impact of the directive. They can simply download EZE certification from the Voltwerk website www.voltwerk.com.
