Integrated energy management system
VS 5 Hybrid is a combination of a transformerless 5 kW inverter, a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 8,8 kWh as well as a management system with a colour touch display. The battery capacity can be expanded if needed - the casing is designed to fit 13,2 kWh. Storing solar power enables the owner of a PV system to cover his own-consumption with PV power in times of low irradiation, e.g. in the morning, in the evening and even at night as well. The energy is either fed in directly from the PV system into the public grid, taken from the battery or provided simultaneously from both sources. Only if those sources do not provide energy, electricity is taken from the grid. In case of a grid failure the system will switch to stand-alone operation.
Optimisation of own-consumption
With the VS 5 Hybrid system the simultaneous production of solar power and electricity consumption of a four-person household can be - compared to a normal PV system - increased from 30% to approx. 70%. This way a complete independence from the public grid can be achieved during the summer months.
Intelligent system management
The system is equipped with a comprehensive monitoring system. The large touch screen display shows all of a household’s electricity consumption data and the status and output data of the PV system and battery – clearly and in real time. The system has an intelligent system management function that controls and monitors energy flows and checks all components are working. The battery management system ensures that the lithium-ion batteries are charged and discharged in the optimum manner and thus last for a long time. In addition, the system can be monitored via the Internet portal Voltweb without any additional components.
